We’ve had a beautiful spell of weather across Inverclyde in the last few weeks and I hope everyone has been keeping cool and enjoying everything our area has to offer.

The sunshine has brought people out to enjoy our parks, and community spaces and cafes, and it’s been great to see people making the most of Inverclyde!

But, as we all know, warmer weather can also bring challenges. From increased noise and gatherings to vandalism and littering, these warmer summer months often highlight some of the persistent issues that affect our communities.

That’s why, during Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week at the beginning of the month, I launched a survey focused on tackling antisocial behaviour in Inverkip. This came directly from conversations I’ve had with residents at my regular coffee mornings and surgeries and though emails and phone calls.

Constituents have raised their concerns about disruptive behaviour in the village, and I want to make sure everyone has chance to voice their thoughts.

We sent the survey initially by post to households in areas where issues had been raised, but I’m pleased to say it’s now open to all residents of Inverkip, and I’d encourage you to take a few minutes to complete it.

You can fill out the survey online by visiting tinyurl.com/InverkipASB

The aim of this survey is simple - to gather as much local insight as possible so we can push for stronger enforcement, better support, and practical solutions that work for Inverkip and our communities.

Whether it’s vandalism, public disorder, substance misuse, or other disruptive behaviour, your feedback will help me work with Police Scotland, local authorities, and community wardens to take meaningful action.

Antisocial Behaviour Awareness Week was a national campaign that shone a light on the harm that can be caused by this kind of behaviour and the importance of communities, police, and elected representatives working together to tackle it. Inverkip is a fantastic place to live, and we all want to keep it that way.

This survey is just one step in that process of working to tackle anti-social behaviour, and I was pleased to join with Inverkip and Wemyss Bay Community Council at their public meeting last Thursday to hear directly from residents and other representatives about what matters to them.

As always, if there’s anything I can help with - on this issue or any other - please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. In addition, I’m holding an online and telephone surgery on July 28 from 3.30pm, and we still have appointments available.

You can email me on [email protected] or call the office on 01475 789 223 to arrange an appointment.
